For every baby monkey, early weaning can become the most frightening challenge of life. This little monkey still depends on its mother’s milk, but she has decided to train the baby to become independent much sooner than expected. Each time the baby reaches out to nurse, the mother pushes it away, rejects every attempt to drink, and sometimes gives a warning bite to stop the behavior. During the struggle, the tiny monkey may even be knocked over or accidentally sat on, leaving it crying in pain for a long time. Hungry, confused, and heartbroken, the baby must endure a difficult journey toward independence.
